Memorial Hermann Cancer Centers offer a variety of classes, events and support groups to care for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs that patients, survivors and caregivers have along the cancer journey. Please see below for a list of classes, events and support groups currently offered at each campus.

Breast Cancer Support Group - English & Spanish
Memorial Hermann now offers both an English and Spanish-language Breast Cancer Support Group. The Spanish-language support group is in collaboration with Las Rosas Vivas.

About the Lindig Family Cancer Resource Center

Located on the first floor of Medical Plaza 4 at 925 Gessner, the Center provides a patient-centered resource for education, as well as emotional, spiritual, nutritional and genetic support services for all types of cancer patients, survivors and families, regardless of where treatment is received. 

The Lindig Family Cancer Resource Center is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. All services are free.

A volunteer is on-hand to provide transportation assistance, wigs, bras, breast prosthesis, and Reach for Recovery.

Art Therapy

Join us for the HEaling ART (HEART) Program. The HEART Program uses art therapy group activities to help patients to cope with the cognitive, emotional, behavioral and social changes they experience, and to serve as a supporting and accompanying strategy along the patient´s disease journey.

Yoga

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m.

Join us for a beginner’s yoga class and a guided meditation. Please bring your own mat, strap and blocks.  

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has been proven to reduce stress and increase overall health and wellness in individuals. Whether you are currently receiving treatment or are in remission, or are a caregiver or family member of a cancer survivor, schedule an appointment with one of our the licensed oncology massage therapists.

Dance Classes

Second/Last Wednesdays of the month

Join us and learn ballroom, line dancing, beginner’s ballet and more. Partners are not required, but you are welcome to bring one. Times are subject to change from month to month. Please e-mail canopyinfo@memorialhermann.org for the latest schedule. 

Cooking Demonstrations

Nutrition is a crucial part of the cancer journey, both during and after a diagnosis. Join us each month for various cooking demonstrations by local chefs from the community. E-mail canopyinfo@memorialhermann.org for the current schedule.

Cancer Education

Third Wednesday of the month, 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.

Do you or someone you know have cancer? Join us to discuss educational topics and/or participate in art sessions. Facilitated by oncology nurse navigator Carolyn Allsen RN, BSN, OCN. Lunch is included. 

Oncology Nutrition Education

First Wednesday of the month, 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.

Join this discussion with a Registered Dietitian and receive information on basic nutrition for cancer patients before, during and after treatment.

Cancer Caregiver Support Sessions

Fourth Thursday of the month, 10 a.m.

Get caregiving tips, advice and support while connecting with others who understand what you are going through. Facilitated by Theresa Gilmore, LCSW. For more information, please call 713-897-2876.

Look Good Feel Better

When a life is touched by cancer, the impact can be overwhelming and frightening. This American Cancer Society program teaches women and men undergoing cancer treatments how to cope with the common cosmetic concerns and improve self-esteem.

About Canopy - A Cancer Survivorship Center

Canopy is the first-of-its-kind cancer survivorship center in Montgomery County, offering a wide variety of programs and services to address the emotional, physical and social needs of those touched by cancer. Canopy features a caring community of hope, healing and empowerment to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by cancer as well as those who support cancer survivors during their journeys.
