Shirley Ruiz, B.S.N, RN, OCN
Oncology Nurse Navigator - Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center
Shirley Ruiz received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in 2009. Prior to her role an oncology nurse navigator, she worked as an infusion nurse at the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center - Texas Medical Center and also has more than six years of experience working as a trauma and emergency nurse.
Shirley is certified in biotherapy and chemotherapy, and is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and the Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators. In her free time, she likes to run, write, draw and spend time with her family, friends and dogs. She loves the outdoors and is always looking for an opportunity to stay active.
When Shirley’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, it motivated her to seek a position that would enable her to be an advocate for patients.
“I learn so much from my patients and their families and am here to help them navigate through a difficult journey,” Shirley says. “I am inspired every day by the beauty of the world and the kindness that we can offer one another.”
